It's been a busy few weeks at Newf Friends, with lots happening. We are doing our best to get through all of the emails and applications we have received, and hope to get in touch with everyone over the next few days. Thanks for your patience and support.
Meet Maverick, our newest arrival. This handsome 5 year old Landseer arrived on Friday and is settling into his foster home very well. More details on Maverick will be posted as we get to know him.
Foster Homes Needed! We are always looking for foster homes for Newfs who find themselves in need of temporary housing while their forever home is being found. Now, more than ever, we need more families to come forward to open up their hearts and homes to foster a Newf in need. Fosters are the backbone of our rescue, providing a home environment, training, and TLC for Newfs in need while they await their adoptive homes.
We are looking for foster homes in Ontario, from Niagara through to the Quebec border, and up through Sudbury.
Read what one of our foster volunteers wrote about being a foster parent.
If you think you would be interested in providing a foster home for a Newf in need please complete our Foster Application form and return it to us at newf.friends@gmail.com
Mackenzie continues to improve in foster care. She has needed multiple vet visits to have drains put into an abscess, but we are hopeful that this is finally on the mend. Her spay and cherry eye surgery has once again been scheduled, for later this week, assuming that her infection is completely gone. If not, surgery will be performed on the abscess to completely remove it, and we will again reschedule her spay surgery. Little "Macaroni" has had a rough ride, but in the loving care of her foster home, she continues to make steady progress.
Beautiful Anna is also making great strides. Working with a trainer, her dedicated foster guardians are hard at work to improve Anna's on leash skills and social behaviour when meeting new dogs. She is making terrific progress.
Delphine is doing great in her foster home, with the exceptional care of her foster guardian, her health issues are on the mend. She will be having her spay surgery and entropion surgery very soon. This sweet gal is going to make one very lucky family so happy!
Mika (aka Mimi) is doing great at her foster home. Thanks to the hard work of her foster Boot Camp guardians, she has dropped 10 lbs since she arrived. Way to go pork chop! She' got several more pounds to drop until she is at a weight where it would be safe to spay her, but she's well on her way. Her fitness has improved, she's got more energy, and she's walking those pounds off!
Sweet Kyle has been adopted by a great family. He's got quite the busy social schedule ahead of him with a big family to love him, puppy play groups, dog walking groups and more! Congratulations little guy!
Our new Online Store is open for business. You should check it out! Orders have been rolling in and will all be shipped out by Tuesday. Thanks everyone for all of your support! 100% of the funds go to help Newfs in need.
Have you checked out our new Kids that Care Project? We want to hear from you! Send us your stories of how your children have helped animals, and we'll share the stories on our blog and help to spread the message that kids can and do make a difference in the lives of animals.
