All about Freja

This sweet girl arrived in our care on February 10 and is thriving in the care of her foster family.  She is a sweet and friendly Newf who knows some basic commands and loves to get loads of attention.

Her original owners rehomed her themselves on Facebook late last year, but the people who acquired her were unable to resolve some housebreaking issues when she was left home alone, so they surrendered her to us.  Her foster family has successfully resolved these issues and Freja is doing great!

Freja has some mild separation anxiety issues and can become stressed when left alone, particularly if she is crated.  Her foster family have been working hard to resolve this and Freja is now able to spend a few hours at home alone without issue.  Good girl Freja!

Having said that, she would be happiest in a home where someone is around a good portion of the time -- long days alone (more than 4 hours) would be rough for her.  Her ideal adopters will have the time to continue to work with Freja to build her confidence and help her reach her full potential.

A Nothing in Life is Free approach works wonders for this girl and all dogs who come into our program.

Freja gets along well with other dogs and has happily had some play sessions with the resident Newf at her foster home.  She is far more focused on people than dogs but does find the company of another dog when her foster family are out to be of great comfort.  For this reason we feel she is better suited to a home with another dog.

She is also well mannered around cats so could join a home with a feline pal.  Good girl Freja!

She has nice manners, knows basic commands and is a gentle, friendly girl.

Freja has been spayed and is UTD on vaccines.
Update April 1:  Freja is currently being treated for a UTI; it is possible that she may require prescription food to prevent recurring infections.

An adoption donation will apply.
To be considered for adopting a dog through Newf Friends please submit a completed application, which can be found on the CONTACT US/FORMS page. Before completing an application or emailing us with questions, please review our FAQ page.  As outlined on our FAQ page, applicants who do not meet our adoption requirements (ie. no fenced play area, living in an apartment building, having young children, etc.) will not be considered -- please do not email us asking us to make an exception.
