Adopter Update: Jade

Here's a great update from Jade's adoptive family:

Just a quick update on Jade!

I can't believe she has been with us for 6 months already. Time has flown by. She is doing really well, and it is hard to imagine our family without her. She is such a sweetheart.

This weekend kicked off our 2012 cottaging season, here is a picture of Jade and Sophie with our son, Kristian. No swimming yet since the ice is still on the lake, but with the warm temperatures we have been enjoying I am sure there will be open water soon.

See you at Newfstock! We booked our rooms a month or so ago!!

Bailey

Bailey
# 3693
June 8, 2012:  Hooray for me, I was adopted!

Hi everyone, I'm Bailey! I'm a friendly and sweet boy who is looking for a great family to call my own.

My birthday is Aug 3, 2009, so I'm a young fella' with lots of energy and I'd be super happy to join a family who likes to take me for lots of walks, even better would be runs! If those walks involve heading to somewhere with water so I can splash around and make a royal mess of myself (and you too) I will be even happier.

Yep, I'm goofy!

I have decent manners but need to work on my leash manners a bit, and apparently I'm supposed to learn not to jump up to greet people. I can't help it, I get excited!!!  I have graduated from obedience class and I know all of my commands, and I'm a very good boy in the house!

My owners are leaving the country and I couldn't go along with them, so  the folks at Newf Friends are going to find me a new home.  I arrived at Newf Friends on March 12 and tried out an adoptive home but it wasn't the right place for me so I'm still waiting for my perfect family to come along.

I know lots of commands & am awesome at sit

Everyone tells me I'm a good boy, but I am a little shy at first when in new surroundings. I come around pretty darn quick once I know everything's ok. My foster family tells me if I do some confidence building exercises I will be great! Sounds like fun, I hope these confidence exercises involve water -- I love water! The water bowl is So Much FUN!

Getting groomed
I get along great with the other pets in my foster home and I really want to hang out with the other dogs. Check me out in my video having the BEST time ever in foster care. I like playing, umm, slight correction... I LOVE playing... although the other dogs at my foster home tell me I need to do more playing, less humping. I also like the cat, although I don't think the feeling is mutual.

I am 3/4 Newf and 1/4 retriever and 100% adorable!   I'm a great catch!   I am neutered, vaccinated and ready to go! An adoption donation of $500 applies. I'm being fostered in Whitby, ON.  Did I mention I like water?

"What are those birds doing??"

Adopter Update: Lily

Remember Lily? The sweet girl who came through our program last winter -- severely underweight, completely lacking socialization and fearful of everything, untrained and unruly and in need of a very special family. Well that very special family came along, and a year later Lily is doing great!

Here's what her family had to say about her....

"It will soon be a year since Lily joined our family and as I mentioned in my first email she is doing really well, evolving into the great dog we know she can be. Her last check up at the Vet’s weighed her at 100lbs and her spleen is not longer enlarged. He feels her consistent good diet has reversed this. With Molly’s help she has become a calmer and more confident girl. She’s becoming more confident when meeting new people although her fear of children persists. We are making baby steps in conquering this fear, she no longer tries to escape or shakes like a leaf in their presence but now is in the avoidance stage inching towards acceptance. She’s great on the leash and her anxieties in the car have decreased, settling down in the van in a much shorter time period. She really has come a long way from the girl we adopted last year. I’ve attached some pictures of her and Molly."

And if that's not enough good news for you, well guess what, there's another reason to smile! Lily's family just increased by one.......

Drum-roll please...........yup, you guessed it........ Adorable Newf Friends foster puppy Chloe, now known as Sophie, has joined this fabulous family!

Congratulations Sophie, Lily, Molly and of course Rosemary and Stephen! We look forward to updates and seeing you all at Newfstock - we've heard your room is booked!

Pictures with the Easter Bunny!

Mark your calendars!

Saturday April 7th from 12 to 4 will be our
Pictures with the Easter Bunny Fund Raiser!

All proceeds will go to Newf Friends to help cover the cost of veterinary care for Newfs in our program.

Bring your whole family, pets included, out for a fun filled afternoon at the Dunbarton Fairport United Church 1066 Dunbarton Rd Pickering, ON

There will be Newf drawn cart rides, lots of animals to visit with, and Minister Jeff will be decked out in a bunny costume to pose for photos with your pets! Yep, you read that right! Our awesome volunteer Jeff is going to be sporting a bunny costume!

You don't want to miss this one!!!!

Pictured here is Ebony posing with a bunny and chicks at her home in North Dakota. Thank you Becky for the use of your photos. Ebony was a beautiful girl, and a true gentle giant.

Adopter Update: Ace

Here's an update from Ace's adopters!

Dear Newf-friends,

Wanted to send along an update to let you know how Ace is doing. We hit a bit of a rough patch over the Holidays and Ace needed to have surgery to repair his torn cruciate ligament. The surgery went great and Ace has pulled through like a champ! Now, 10 weeks post-surgery Ace is back on his feet and having fun romping around with his pals at the dog park. Since we adopted him last May he's dropped over 10 pounds!

Here's a few pictures from Ace's most recent dog-park adventure. He still has a bit of a funky haircut from his surgery but other than that he's lookin' pretty darn good! Ace is such an amazing guy, thank you so much Newf-Friends! :)
