All about Emma

This gorgeous gal is pretty much perfect and is looking for an equally awesome family to call her own. Emma is well mannered, friendly as can be, a total love-bug who enjoys snuggle time on the couch, belly rubs and lots of lovin'.

She gets along well with other sociable dogs, is fine around cats, and is sweet as can be!

Emma has known much love in her life, and came to us when he owner's life circumstances changed and they were not able to meet her needs. They made the heartbreaking decision to turn her over to us to find her a wonderful, loving family.

Emma is looking for a family where someone will be around most of the time, and where she will be included in all aspects of family life.  She is a social butterfly who loves to be with her peeps!

She is in good health, has been spayed and is ready to find her perfect family.

An adoption donation applies.

All about Mason

This sweet boy is a a typical adolescent puppy…big and goofy! He is friendly and affectionate, sometimes forgets to turn his brain on, and is generally a sweet fella' who likes to have fun!

Mason needs lots of mental stimulation and long walks to keep him calm and relaxed; after this he is super chilled-out and happy to hang out/nap.  Typical of a young Newf,  Mason will show shoe-stealing, mouthing, general  puppy trouble-making antics when he’s ready for the next round of activities.  As the saying goes, a well exercised dog is a well behaved dog!

He is fast learner and will obey commands readily as long as he is not distracted. He appears to be treat motivated and his foster parents are working on his listening skills while distracted (ie. getting him to sit when he sees other dogs instead of leaning into his leash and pulling).

Basic “come, sit, lie down, stay” commands seem to be pretty good, again as long as he is not distracted. On leash he pulls really hard but mellows into the walk so this needs to be worked on. He also pulls and jumps when meeting people which will be addressed in foster care.

His foster parents have been working on his “watching” skills at the end of their walks. Mason seems to like sitting in the busy park watching people, dogs, activities. He does and not seem to get overly excited even when tempting squirrels cross his path. What a good boy!

Mason likes to romp and play with other well socialized dogs, so he would be happy to join a family with another canine companion who already has solid training in place.  Playing with other dogs is great for him to learn appropriate bite inhibition as he is still a bit mouthy.

He loves meeting kids but his enthusiasm can be a bit much.  He is jumpy, can be mouthy and generally excitable. Once he has his commands locked down he'll be fine with older, dog savvy kids.

Mason is being fostered in Toronto, ON; his approved adopters will be required to pick him up in person.  An adoption donation of $500 will apply, plus a refundable $250 neuter-security deposit which will be reimbursed once he is neutered at the appropriate age (24 months of age for a giant breed male) as per our spay/neuter contract.

All about Yogi

Yogi is an affectionate and friendly fella' who loves to be cuddled and petted and is looking for a great family to call his own.  He is well mannered, wants to be friends with everyone and is an all around lovable boy.

His previous owners are relocating overseas and after much careful thought and consideration, made the decision to turn Yogi over to us to rehome rather than putting him through the stress of a huge move across the globe.  It was a hard decision for them, but they put Yogi's best interest first, as the move would have been too much for him.

Yogi is in a foster home with one other dog and gets along just fine with her.  There are also cats which he is respectful of, and he is even reasonably good with the free range chickens.  What a good boy!

He is an avid swimmer who loves to spend the day in the lake at his foster home.  All of the swimming will be great for Yogi, who tipped the scales well over 200 lbs lbs on arrival and is in need of some serious weight loss.  What better exercise for a Newf than swimming in a lake every day.

Health wise, Yogi is not in very good shape at the moment, but we hope to have him feeling better soon.  On arrival he was extremely obese, needing to dropping about 50 - 60 lbs.

Guess who couldn't wait to hit the lake!
Yogi has a minor issue with his wrist that causes some lameness, so he takes anti-inflammatory/pain medication.  He also has arthritis and a general lack of muscle mass on his back end.   His excess weight is certainly not helping him at all and is impacting his ability to enjoy his life to the fullest.

The good news is, as his weight has started to drop he is already moving better and able to do things he couldn't do just a few weeks ago.  His stamina has improved, he is able to rise better and is eager to get moving.  Yogi is very motivated to get active, this boy wants to feel better and enjoy life!  He still has much progress to make, but he's on his way.   His physiotherapist has recommended stretching exercises to help ease his discomfort as we work towards his weight loss goals.

Outdoor physio session by the lake
From day one he was eager to head out for a walk and explore the property at his foster home, and each day he does a little more.   With a healthy diet, and slow, steady exercise the pounds are dropping off.

Yogi has some skin issues that are clearing up nicely.  The main issue seems to have been his very dense undercoat that had not been brushed out properly and resulted in his skin not being able to breath.  After much work grooming Yogi, his matted coat has been removed and his skin is recovering wonderfully.

Yogi out for a walk on day 1 at his Doggie Boot Camp!

Yogi's ideal family will be one where he will get loads of love and care, have opportunities for safe exercise to help him drop weight (his weight loss could take 9 - 12 months to achieve) and help him get healthy so that he can enjoy his senior years.  It is essential that he continue working towards his weight loss goals.

Heading to the school bus to meet the kids
