It's time to register for the Newfoundland Dog Club of Canada National Specialty Newf Rescue Parade! We hope to see you there!

The NDCC has once again invited all rescued Newfs to strut their stuff in the Rescue Parade.  On Saturday, Sept 5 there will be a Newf Rescue Parade to celebrate all of the wonderful rescue dogs we all love so much. The Newfs who are registered for the parade will have their photo and a brief write-up in the show catalogue, will receive gifts, will be photographed with the group for the Newf News and will get to strut their stuff in the parade.

To enter your Newf in the parade please contact Cathy at ndccnewfnews@gmail.com

The NDCC Specialty runs from Sept 3-6 and will include water tests, draft tests, obedience, rally and conformation. It will be a great weekend so please plan to attend! There will be tons of Newfs there, and of course Newf Friends will have a booth selling our awesome merchandise (our 2016 calendar will be released that weekend!) We hope to see many of you there for the whole weekend. Here are the details for the Specialty http://www.2015ndccnational.ndfa.ca/Home.php

Let's make this parade bigger than ever!

Portia

Portia
2015-011
July 22, 2015: I've been adopted!

Lovely gal Portia arrived in our care on June 8 and is doing very well in foster care.

This social girl is friendly and has nice house manners.  She knows basic commands and is a sweet girl who loves attention.
Portia has lived with another dog and gets along with well mannered dogs.  She could join a home with another four legged playmate, or she would be perfectly content to be the only dog.

She has never lived with cats, but she does chase rabbits, etc. so a home without small animals is needed.

Portia is best suited to an adult only family. She can become over stimulated when around children.  Homes where children live or visit often will not be considered.

Born on October 19, 2009 this lovely girl is 5 years old, has been spayed and is current on her vaccines.  We have completed bloodwork and everything looks great.

Portia is taking estrogen once weekly for urinary incontinence, a fairly common condition in spayed females.  No worries, the meds are effective in completely controlling the bladder leakage. She has no accidents since taking this medication. With a simple does once a week she is problem free!

Portia is being fostered in the Hamilton area and her approved adopters will be required to pick her up in person. An adoption donation of $500 applies.

Katie

Katie
2015-010
June 26: I was adopted!

Katie is a beautiful 8 year old sweet heart who is looking for a loving family to call her own. She is a mellow, quiet girl who is looking for a slower paced family to call her own.

A Canadian CH and retired breeding dog, she has been well loved her whole life.  She was placed into a loving pet home by her breeder, but her owner is now facing significant health issues necessitating that Katie find a family where she will get all of the exercise, attention and care that she needs.  Katie is from a reputable kennel and her breeder continues to provide support for Katie's care and we are working in collaboration with her breeder to find Katie the perfect forever family.

This gentle girl is well mannered, gets along with other dogs and cats, travels well, knows basic commands and is an all around fabulous catch.   Such a good girl!  Katie is a social girl who loves people and would be a wonderful candidate for therapy work.  Her dam was also a therapy dog.
Katie has been spayed and is  up to date on core vaccines.  Born June 28/07 she is in good health and currently weighs 108 lbs.  Katie's hips are in good shape.  She has advanced arthritis in her knees which was making her stiff and sore so she is now taking metcam to keep her comfortable. It is hoped that as she puts on some muscle mass and builds up her back end that her metacam can be reduced/discontinued.  She is able to get around well and with swimming and proper daily exercise we expect to see great improvement soon.

Katie is being fostered in the Bancroft, ON area.  We will consider homes within a 1 day drive of her location -- this includes parts of Ontario, Quebec, NY, NJ, PA, OH and more.  Her approved adopters must pick her up in person (you will need a passport to cross the border from the US to Canada if you are in the States.)

An adoption donation of $400 to Newf Friends will apply.
