Adopter Update - Blue

Blue sure has come a long way from a life of living outside as a brood bitch. She joined her new family at the beginning of February and is doing FABULOUS!

Blue's Mom reports that Blue has been fantastic with all people and that she and her Newf sister Layla got along from the moment they met. They do everything together and there have been zero issues (you may recall that Blue had issues with other dogs when she first came into rescue**). We couldn't be happier for Blue and look forward to more updates!!

Walking with her Mom & sister Layla
Stroll on a beach with Dad & Layla
Daddy's girl!!
Cuddle time
Snooze time
Playing with her sister!

See those 2 lumps? Blue & Layla enjoying the snowfall
Sisters from another mother

Exciting News!

We are very excited to announce our new project called the
Breeder Referral Program.
Our goal with this project is to give potential puppy purchasers easy access to a list of available pups from responsible breeders.

We will be maintaining an up-to-date list of  Newfoundland Dog breeders across Canada who are members of the Newfoundland Dog Club of Canada (NDCC) and who have pups available, or expect to have pups available within the next year.

This breeder referral program goes hand in hand with our ongoing education campaign to help  future Newf owners find their way to good breeders and avoid being tricked by lousy BYB and puppy producers.

and please spread the word that a list of current and upcoming Newf litters in Canada is now available!

Dori

Dori
2014-005

February 14, 2014:  Dori has been adopted!

Pretty little Landseer Dori arrived in our care on February 1st and is getting settled in her foster home.

This 3 year old girl came to us through no fault of her own when her owner was no longer able to keep her.

She is a friendly gal who gets along well with other dogs and is fine around cats.  She apparently likes to chase chickens so is not suited to a home where she would have access to free range birds.

She is housebroken and is able to be left home alone without issues.  In the coming days we will be assessing Dori in foster care to learn more about her manners and training.

Dori is on the small side, around 100 lbs.   We are told she had a litter of pups a few months ago but her breeding days are over now and we will have her spayed before adoption.

She is being fostered in the Oakville area.  Her approved adopters will be required to pick her up in person.  An adoption donation of $500 applies.

Adopter Update: Louis

Hi Sandra, hope all is well with you.  Just wanted to provide you with an update that you could put on the site!

Louis has adjusted very well to his forever home. We could not ask for a more loving and well  behaved boy. He is a fine example of the sweet temperament that is the Newfoundland. ‎His hair has now grown back into a fine Newf mane, and he passed his grooming last week with flying colours!

He goes to his doggie daycare twice weekly, which he gets very excited about! Lou also looks forward to his walks each evening and anytime he sees anyone or another dog his tail wags happily. I also take him on his weekly hike through the forest once or twice a week and he is a real trooper, I'm not sure who enjoy's it more, him or myself?

He has a bit of arthritis in his back leg but he seems to deal with it well, and the Glucosamine/ Acana Pacifica diet is I'm sure a huge help!

We cannot wait to see if he's a water lover this spring/summer ‎here on the lake!

Thank you to Newf Friends for bringing Louis into our lives, we could not imagine life without him.
