April 6, 2011: Molly was adopted.

Hello, my name is Molly and I am homeless. I am looking for a family who needs me. This is my bio, my plea for help! I will start with my vitals, then I will get into the really great stuff about me. Will you take a minute to read? I would really appreciate it.

I am a purebred Newfoundland dog. This month I will be celebrating my 6th birthday, though truth be told, I don't think I look a day over 4.

Once upon a time I lived with a family, there were kids there, oh how I love kids. I was happy for a while, but then circumstances changed and I fell into neglect and sadness. In late January I was surrendered to the fine people at Newf friends. They are a group of Newfoundland dog lovers who volunteer their time to help dogs like me. It is a registered charity (not sure what that means but have been told that humans find that important). After a long journey where I changed vehicles and people a lot, I came to rest with "foster Mom and foster Dad". It was Sunday January 30th, the first day of my new life!

When I arrived here I was a little embarrassed. I am a proud dog but I smelled a lot like a pigsty in the Spring. It was horrifying. I was also matted all over my body. Upon further investigation, it was revealed that I had bubblegum stuffed in my ears and fur. There was vomit dried into my coat. I was about 25 lbs underweight and had severe ear infections. I had been having babies, this was apparent by my body condition. Honestly, I was a mess, but when foster mom accepted my kisses in spite of my smell, knew I was going to be ok.

Day two was eventful. I visited the vet! I was bathed, my matts were cut out, my ears were treated, I got my shots and best of all, I was spayed !!! No more babies for me!!! With all of that taken care of, I settled into foster care.

So this is who I am. I am Molly! Here is what I don't like. It is a short list. I hate to admit it but I don't like cats and I don't like little dogs. I actually don't really like any dogs. Foster mom thinks that I have been bullied by dogs in my other life. She tells me that I have earned my distrust of other dogs! Those are really the only two things about me that my foster folks would change. They love me anyway and since they have a lot of cats and dogs, I must be very special if they can overlook that about me, don't you think?

Now for the good stuff. Foster mom and dad say that I am a wonderful dog! I am totally clean in the house! I don't chew stuff unless it is mine! I have excellent recall skills! I love walks in the woods, scratches on my belly and giving kisses. I love lying at foster mom's feet while she works. I love people, especially children! I love being groomed! I love life in a home where I get attention! I love everybody with two legs!

Foster folks laugh at me when I get excited. I "woo woo" at the top of my lungs and dance around with my tail wagging at warp speed! I bounce and leap, a dance of sheer joy. I do this when they tell me that I am a good dog! I love hearing that!! I love being loved!

I have gained about 10 lbs since I came into foster care. Quality food will do that for a dog! I look so much better!

I really want to bond with my foster folks but foster mom has explained that I am meant to be in a forever home of my own. There are other animals here who came before me and I am a guest here. Foster folks love me but my forever family is out there somewhere. I know it is! Could it be with you? Would you help me by cross posting my story? If not my story then will you try to help some of my sisters and brothers? Our stories are all at this link http://newf-friends.blogspot.com/. Thank you for your time and attention!
With love and happy "woo woos"
Molly
