All about Walter
Wally is a sweet and affectionate boy who is has finally been released from medical hold following multiple surgeries to correct orthopedic issues.  He is all healed up and ready to start his new, pain-free life!

He has loads of energy to burn and will love to have a big backyard to romp around in and play.  He will need to have somewhat limited exercise for a few more weeks but is allowed much more freedom now and by summer will have no exercise restrictions at all.  Owners who are active and able to give him ample opportunities for safe exercise are a must.  He's a typical young male Newf who needs an outlet for his mental and physical energy.

Wally likes to carry things around and will happily greet you with your slippers when you arrive home.  So much potential for Wally to be a handy helper around the house!

He came to us when his owners felt that his training needs were more than they could handle.  A typical young hooligan, Walter was jumping up, mouthy and generally being an unruly pup.

He has shown some mouthy behaviour when excited but redirects easily.  His foster family has worked hard to help him control arousal and all of the hard work has really paid off!  Wally is coming along nicely.  Way to go Wally!

He can be a bit stubborn at times and will jump up nervously/excitedly and mouth when asked to do something he doesn't want but is willing to follow commands and comply as directed.  An owner who has some time to continue on with basic obedience and socialization will be the best fit for Wally.  His training needs will be ongoing for a while yet.

Once well exercised, Wally is a mellow and well-mannered boy at home.  He enjoys sitting by the front window at his house and watching over the street, and he even likes watching TV!  Hopefully his adopters have a subscription to Animal Planet (hee, hee)!

Get Pettin'!
A social butterfly who loves to meet new people, Wally is a total love-bug!  He loves spending time with people and will be happiest in a home where he will not spend long hours alone.

Belly rubs are one of his favourite things, but his greatest joy comes from being invited up on the couch for a snuggle.  A gentle and affectionate boy, he loves to cuddle and give sweet kisses.  Awwwww.

Wally has been neutered, is current on vaccines.

He came up lame in May and it was discovered that he has OCD (Osteochondritis Dissecans) in his left shoulder and has ruptured the ligament in both knees.  He has undergone surgeries and treatments to address these issues and has now been given the all clear by his surgeon!  Hooray!

Will work for Cookies
Wally likes to play with other dogs but his playstyle can be a bit rough, so matching him with a playmate who is rough and tumble too will be best.
He can be a bit protective of his food when other dogs are around, so an owner who has time to work on continued training with him is best, or placement into a home with no other dogs.  He should be fed in a separate area if he is joining a home with another dog.

Wally is an all-around great Newf who has loads of potential and just needs the love of a family who have the time, energy and knowledge to work with a young, active boy like him.  In the right home, he thrives!

An adoption donation will apply.

To be considered for adopting a dog through Newf Friends please submit a completed application, which can be found on the CONTACT US/FORMS page.
