Finn

Finn
2013-018

Sept 7, 2013: I've been adopted!

Say hello to Finn, a totally adorable 7 year old Landseer who is an absolute gem and is going to make one lucky family very happy.  This sweet boy is going to steal your heart!

Well loved his entire life, Finn found himself arriving in our care through no fault of his own.  His caring owners made the very difficult decision to rehome Finn when it became apparent that Finn's needs could not be met due to changes in their life.  Looking out for Finn's best interest they reached out to us to help find Finn a loving forever home.

Finn is a wonderful example of what a Newf should be --  gentle, friendly, well mannered and an all around great dog.  He greets everyone with a wagging tail and is excellent around children/strangers/your name it.  A truly lovely boy!

Look at me in the snow last winter!
Finn gets along well with other dogs and could join a home with another well mannered four footed playmate.  He has wonderful doggie social skills.

Finn has been neutered, his vaccines are current and he is ready to join a great family.  If you would like to be considered for adopting Finn please complete our adoption application found in the forms section of this site and email it back to us.
Finn is being fostered in the Paris, ON area and his approved family will be required to pick him up in person.
An adoption donation of $500 applies.

Adopter Update: Bogart

Here's an update from Bogart's new family!

He is a true member of the family! Just took this pic -waiting for dinner. Loves his caned food mixed with kibble.

We 3 go to Georgian Bay beach everyday at 10am- he loves the car and waits by the door.He is a true gentleman!
I think he leaned over our dock to take a drink and fell in. He is a fine swimmer but prefers to wade in the water.

He loves everyone he meets and everyone loves him-Satch included! More pics soon!

Louis (aka Pork-chop!)

Louis
2013-017
I was adopted on Sept 23!

Bonjour, je m'appelle Louis, but my friends call me Pork-chop. I just arrived at Newf Friends on Aug 17 and I am already making lots of friends and having a great time!

My coat was shaved down at the shelter
I was found as a stray in Quebec and was taken to a shelter.  Nobody came looking for me and I stayed there for many months.  The Newf folks heard about me and offered to help me find a great home.  Hooray!

The rescue folks say I am kinda' chunky -- time to get exercising!
The vet estimates I am around 4 years old, and they think I am a mix, maybe Newf/lab.  I am 129lbs, but should probably be closer to 110 lbs.  My coat was shaved while I was at the shelter so the Newf folks said we'll have to wait and see what I look like when it grows back!

I've met lots of other dogs on my journey to my foster home and I get along with all of them.   Ya, I'm a sweet boy!  I could join a family with another well mannered dog, no problem.  I also like cats!

I'm a happy fella!
I'm super friendly and love to be petted and soak up attention.  Kids make me happy and I am well mannered and just an all around awesome fella if I do say so myself.   I am pretty darn perfect!

I'm bilingual and know basic commands, en francais!  I have nice manners and am an easy going boy.

I have been vaccinated, wormed and neutered.  I had a lump removed from my leg and the test results came back showing it is nothing to be worried about. Phew!

I am being fostered in the Port Perry, ON area and the lucky family who get to adopt me will need to pick me up in person.  Because I am a mixed breed dog a reduced adoption donation of $400 applies.  If you think you'd like to adopt me, please complete an adoption application and email it back to the rescue folks.

Maggie

Maggie
2013-016

MAGGIE HAS BEEN ADOPTED

Maggie has an approved home and will be adopted once we have completed treating her eye infections, performing entropion surgery and dental work for serious issues with her mouth.

New arrival Maggie is doing great in her foster home.  She is getting along famously with all of the other dogs, and is an all around wonderful newf with a great temperament.  Great with animals, people, kids, you name it, Maggie is a real gem!

This 4 year old gal knows basic commands, and other than needing work on her leash manners she is pretty easy going.

Maggie arrived with a badly infected eye which we are currently treating.  She has a condition called dry eye which will require daily eye drops costing approximately $60/month.   We are in the process of clearing up her infections and getting the inflammation in her eyes under control.

Because this condition was not correctly treated previously she has suffered some permanent damage to her eyes and her vision has been impacted.  We will have a better idea of the extent of the damage once her infection is cleared.  She gets around fine and compensates for her decreased vision very well.

Eye condition on intake

We will be bringing Maggie up to date on vaccines, and she has already been spayed.  She will be available for adoption once her eye infection is resolved.  She is being fostered in eastern ON and her approved family will be required to pick her up in person.  To be considered for adopting Maggie please complete the adoption application found in the forms section of our site.  An adoption donation of $500 will apply.
