All about Gander
Sweet fella' Gander is a young, goofy boy who is full of puppy energy and eager to learn.  He is a delight to be around and is ready to find himself a loving family to call his own.

Rolling around with his toy

He's friendly, loves attention, and to romp around and play.  He is a typical young male who is in need of training and socialization.  Having lived his life in a rural environment he needs to learn about life in a more urban area.  Gander will benefit from opportunities for obedience training and socialization to build his confidence.

Gander has been attending classes and in the hands of an experienced handler,  is proving to be an excellent student, quickly learning new commands and what is expected of him, and behaving very well around other dogs in this environment. Way to go Gander!  A family who will continue on with his obedience work and socialization will be best for him.

Smart and eager to please, Gander would do well with an owner who is interested in working their dog in obedience, water work, draft work, scent detection and more.  He is a real "thinker" and "problem solver", a very intelligent boy!

He is very people-focused and enjoys spending time with his family.  He can be somewhat anxious when separated from his family, so would be happiest in a home where someone is around much of the time so he is not spending long days alone.  Owners who are willing to continue working with Gander to increase his independence will be a good fit for him.

Gander previously lived with other dogs but had some resource guarding issues with one of them, and the decision was made to rehome him. This guarding was behaviour was limited to one dog, and was not noted with people.

He has enjoyed the company of a female playmate who would visit him at his foster home but is not reliable around males.  He is best suited to a home where he would be the only dog, or where he would have a mellow female companion.

He has been vaccinated and has now been neutered and is ready to be adopted.

Applications are now being accepted.

Mobi

Mobi
2019-008

Update November 8/19:  RIP sweet girl.  Mobi left us surrounded by her loving foster family.
______________
Mobi is in our sanctuary care program.  She will be living out her days in a foster home where she will get lots of tender love and care.

Donations towards her care are greatly appreciated.

DOB April 14, 2007
Located in the GTA

Sweet gal Mobi arrived in our care after her owner passed away.  She is a total love bug who enjoys a good snuggle.

On intake, Mobi was in pretty rough shape suffering from severe mobility issues and morbid obesity, and with a heavily matted coat which had to be completely shaved off.  With some basic vet care, we were able to identify that her thyroid was not functioning properly so we have started thyroid meds to help her feel better and drop weight, and have successfully treated her for a UTI infection that was causing incontinence.  We have also begun a comprehensive pain management regimen that has made a tremendous difference for her and enabled her to move around much better.

Due to Mobi's advanced age and serious health issues, we have determined that she is not a candidate for adoption. Instead, she will remain in our foster program in our sanctuary care program.  Our priorities will be to ensure that she is pain-free and is able to enjoy a good quality of life in a loving foster home for her remaining time.

Donations to help offset the ongoing care of Mobi are appreciated.  Details for making a donation can be found by clicking here.
